Hi 👋🏻 I'm Lavina (pronounced: la-VINE-ah)

I first happened into floristry while in university and I got a part-time job in the floral department of a grocery store. Being a florist wasn't a career I had ever really considered before that, but I found the creative side of the job really meshed with me. I took some time after graduating university to travel, moved to the UK for 2 years, and worked as a florist in a couple different flower shops in different cities as I traveled. I learned A LOT from these experiences, and would consider the time I spent working and learning in the UK the experience that has influenced my current floral design style the most. When I returned to Hamilton I worked at a local florists before beginning my own studio in 2020. I knew that the main focus of my studio would be on creating custom wedding and event florals, as that had grown to be my favourite aspect of floral design, and the one I found the most rewarding.

I currently have a home-based studio, located in Central Hamilton,  and (people often ask me questions about this when they find out what I do) no plans to open a retail storefront.

I strive to find environmentally friendly alternatives to all floral practices, whenever possible. A cut flower garden is in development for the summer of 2021.
